Accessibility
We built this site so anyone can find their group, read the prices and book a seat, by keyboard, screen reader, phone or zoomed to 200%. If something stops you, tell us and we'll fix it.
Concept build by Kootenay Made Digital. The operator is fictional, and this statement describes this site as built.
The standard we build to
This site is built to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at level AA. We build it in from the first page, measure it with automated tests, and then check it by hand.
What that means on this site
Structure
Every page has one main heading, and the headings below it never skip a level. Landmarks mark the header, the main content and the footer, and a skip link jumps past the menu.
Keyboard
Everything works from the keyboard: the group finder, the group board, the price builder, the storm ledger and the booking form. Focus shows as a clear ring on every background, and Escape closes the menu.
Contrast and type
Text meets a contrast of 4.5 to 1, and large type meets 3 to 1. Body text is set at a comfortable weight, and every page holds together at 200% zoom and reflows to a single column at 320 px wide.
Tap targets
Menu items, the booking and call buttons, and the group choices are at least 44 px. Every other control is at least 24 px or sits 24 px from its neighbour, and a link inside a sentence takes the size of its text.
Motion
One switch in the header, Pause motion, stops the hero film and the run on every page, and the site remembers your choice. If your device asks for reduced motion, the site starts paused and shows still frames instead.
Images and the film
Images that carry meaning have a text description, and decorative ones stay silent. The hero film is silent atmosphere. Every fact on this site is written in the text.
Forms
Every field keeps its label in view. An error names the field and says how to fix it, and a sent request is announced.
How we check
Before a change goes live, automated tests run on every page at phone and desktop sizes: an accessibility scan to WCAG 2.2 AA, a contrast sweep, a tap-target count and the focus order. Then a person walks the site by keyboard and at 200% zoom.
Where this site stands
We believe the site meets WCAG 2.2 AA. A few places rely on judgement more than a test:
- Text that sits on photographs is checked by eye, because automated tools can't read the photo behind it.
- The hero film is silent, so it needs no captions. Everything you need is in the text.
- This is a concept build. The booking form sends nothing, so nobody will reply to a request sent through it.
- The bookings email and the lodge phone belong to the fictional operator, so a report sent to them reaches nobody. Kootenay Made Digital built this concept and takes barrier reports through kootenaymade.ca/accessibility.
Found a barrier? Tell us
If any part of this site stops you, email or call and tell us the page and what happened. A person at the lodge replies within one working day. We fix it, then tell you it's fixed so you can check.

On this concept build, send barrier reports to Kootenay Made Digital through kootenaymade.ca/accessibility.
If the site is in your way right now, call the lodge and we'll book your seat over the phone.
